This page is to announce in brief, any developments, information or events, that are relevant or of interest to us at  'Torwind Spaniels'

Alfie sired his 2nd litter after his first 'visiting girl' came to be romanced , which we were all really pleased with and Tango became a Grandma, when one of hers and Woody daughters had her own pups. Both of these litters were born up North :)

Kennel Club Breeder Symposium  Nov 2012  Royal Veterinary College,Herts

Jim and I absolutley loved this day here, learning more and meeting up with other breeders, vets and specialists for this day of talks and discussions on health issues and how advances in science could benefit us and our dogs.                                                                                                         Speakers and subjects were Dr Cathryn Mellersh on how to spot a good DNA test; Professor Jeff Sampson, Genetics Consultant  re how to breed for better health; Dr Angelika von Heimendahl, from the Veterinary Reproduction Service, on how to avoid a Caesarean section and Dr Lorna Kennedy, Senior Scientist at the University of Manchester, who spoke on on autoimmune conditions.
Tor was BVA eye screened at 8 weeks old and got the all clear and is DNA clear/non carrier for Fucosidosis and PRA cord 1. We will be going back again to get this certificate updated for when he is 12 months old and his appointment to be Hip Scored like our other studs has already been made  in preparation for his own stud career ,subject to good results.

 JULY – SEPT 2012

We have been busy these past few months as Tango and Woody had another wonderful litter in July and Jazz and Alfie had their first litter together in August, with which we were absolutely thrilled . So much so, we decided to keep one of their sons a tri coloured Black, White and Tan boy whose Kennel Club name is Torwind Tor’  who has been delighting us and keeping us occupied ever since :)

We were so pleased to have our visit -14th June 2012 . As aprt of the being on the 'Assured Breeder Scheme' then we as breeders are visited in our homes, where everything we do and how we do it is checked that all is in order.  Hours of talking about everything to do with dogs, discussing everything we do, questions about all sorts and everything, photos taken of our set up, the dogs, paperwork and puppy pack copies taken away and just a thoroughly good afternoon talking to another breeder and all things doggy. We are delighted and it was so lovely to hear all the reports and reviews read out that were sent in from our puppy owners who filled in the feedback forms after getting one of our pups. Thank you all .

Really Pleased As They Are Nicely Below The Breed Mean Average

This means that ,he has now had all the DNA tests and BVA eye tests and so now, both our boys are assured kc studs and tested over and above the ‘assured breeder requirements’

Both Woody- and Alfie- had their blood samples sent to the states and are DNA tested clear/non carries for the metabolic disorder  PFK (Phosphofructikinase Deficiency) and so therefore none of their pups will be 'affected' by this condition.

We were overwhelmed to arrive and see spaniels and spaniels and more spaniels to the right and the left of us , with proud smiling owners .  We knew that loads were going to be there but to see it and experience it was quite something. Thank you all so very very much for bringing all your dogs to meet up with us and their relatives. It was quite something . So many dogs and so much enjoyment. Thank you all so much for coming and already have had texts and posts, asking when the next one is :) See you there! Thank you all so very very much for your comments and for coming.

47 dogs were at the meet up, aged from 6 months to 9 years, spanning 4 generations. 41 were Torwind relatives. 5 more spaniels came with their families and 1 delightful DalmatianView As we arrived.   and On the Beach
